Help me pick out some sticks

I'm pretty sure I hit harder than most people, and I do rimshots all day long. They don't break if you're using the right one. They don't splinter or leave sawdust all over the place either.
Which ones do you use?

2B. I play every day. And....I suck at drums and swing like a gorilla and hit the rims all the time. So if I'm not breaking them, there's no reason you good drummers should be. ;)

2B's are too big for me. Not trying to get into a pissing match, but I can't tell you how many drummers tell me that they hit really hard when they don't. It happens almost on a weekly basis over here...

I have recently found my perfect stick, Vic Firth SD10 Swingers 16 1/4" length and .610" diameter This is a maple stick so it is lighter than hickory. This way you can have a larger stick and still keep it light for better control. Give them a try. It feels like a 5B with the weight of a 5A

Really? I post here all the time and I don't see too many false claims of hard hitting, but whatever.

I'm talking about clients in my studio. In their defense, they will hit something hard, sometimes it's the hat, sometimes it's the booze, either way it is normally one thing instead of everything.

Yeah I gotcha. I like to hit my women hard. :p

Well as far as hitting hard goes, i NAIL my snare most of the time if i'm really gettin into it, and hit the toms and kick hard, but i don't blast into my cymbals. They get loud and obnoxious when you do.

I don't know what it is about Ahead sticks, i've tried the 7a's, 5a's, and i believe the 5b's, and for whatever reason it's always the stick i'm using on my snare that just gives out.

I still hit pretty hard, but not like when I was in a thrash metal band in the 90s. I used to to swing over my head like it was two tennis rackets on medium tempo stuff. Probably why my hands go numb today. I still used wood sticks back then. I think I was using Vic Firth Anton Fig signature models. They were long!

Pro-mark 747's and 727's are my faves depending on the style of music I'm playing.

i had a pair of 727's i really liked..... i wonder what happened to those.....

i'm a pro-mark 5a nylon tip kinda guy, or 7a's for quieter stuff.

I tend to not hit very hard (it's been a problem in my recordings that I don't hit hard enough, or at least I think Greg said so at some point in time :p), but my sticks all break all the time anyway. I don't know, maybe I just hit my cymbals the wrong way or something. Generally, though, I try to conserve energy by not wailing away.

I found a pair of 5Bs I have lying around. They used to feel really heavy, but for some reason, now they feel great. Maybe I just got more buff all of a sudden. I think I'm going to find a different pair that isn't painted red, though, because that comes off all over my cymbals and makes them ugly. I'll still take a look at those other ones this weekend at GC. What is the sturdiest wood? The 5Bs I have are hickory and have lasted me a long time (seriously like 10 years), but I can't say I've actually used them all that much b/c the paint came off, so I reserved them for live shows. The 5As I have that I keep breaking are also hickory, though...

When you all learn how to play properly you will be able to move to a 7a and save alot of money and wear on your shit.:D

If by "playing properly" you mean play like a girl, I'll pass. ;)
