Hi- something is amiss and I can't quite figure it out. When I playback the multitrack from the beginning, it uses earlier versions of tracks. However, when I click on the specific track that's f+ing up and then roll back to slightly before where I punched-in, it plays back the desired bit with the punch-in.

I tried to delete the earlier track, but then I lose the part after the punch-in that I want to keep.

When I mixdown, it also uses the incorrect playback.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

Josh

P.S. I'm using Cubase SE

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, but if you right click on the part where the punch in should be you can select which audio file to be put to front. I'm not familiar w/ cubase SE but this is the way it works in Nuendo.

Are you sure that the takes are recorded?

Hope that helps.

I've had some similar problems with Cubase SE, especially when gluing parts together. I'm probably just not doing something right, but it's still a pian. Generally, if it's acting sketchy, I just solo the track and mix it down to a new track.

It's really sort of an odd problem - Maybe this is divine intervention telling me that I need to re-do the whole vocal part as one take. :)

The takes are definitely there, because when I stop playback in mid-punch-in, and then roll back to slightly before the punch-in, it plays the punch-in! It's almost like IT prefers the earlier take.

Thanks, I'll see if right clicking buys be anything.

Are you using stacked-recording??? If so Cubase will use the top most file on a track in the project window as the file to playback. If you are trying to comp the files into a single file, I find it easiest to take each file and drag it onto its own dedicated track so you can audition all the parts individually or as groups, then cut out the bits you want and arrange them on a new track for the final composite. I find recording each new bit to a seperate track to begin with is much better than using the stacked-recording method, unless you are looping the part over and over, in which case stacked is the way to go.
