I took off the female XLR panel plates, but this Male refuses to come off and I couldn't find anyway to detach it from the plug that's soldered to the PCB.

Anyone know how to do this?

appreciate any input.

thats part the problem, I cant pull the preamp rack unit apart, cant "lift the lid" on this one and this one XLR piece is soldered in preventing it.

Heres a picture of the back. I think maybe its not made to take apart like the female version did?

If it was put together, it can be taken apart, but without seeing the inside, there's no way to guess what the proper method would be. There's nothing on the back side of the connector to hold it in place, unless the connectors are soldered to something. There is a set screw on the top that holds the insert to the housing. Perhaps if you can remove that, you can pull the housing out, leaving the plastic insert.

Looks to me like the Set Screw in the Center has to be removed - and then the clip at the bottom has to be bent out.

I got it apart from the front taking everything apart and the VU meter...but it was still not able to pull the unit apart fully due to this XLR?

its a joemeekvc1q with digital card. I took it all apart from the front and it was a pita and still it didn't come apart to access the XLR.
Have to desolder several things to separate the black casing from the PCB and XLR's.
Total waste of time really. I've taken the old Brick apart no problem to look inside, but this one, not so easy at all, a mess. You take the front panel off and the pcb's fall, the VU falls, the LEDs are physically bent by hand to align to the front plate holes. There was nothing wrong with it I was only wanting to look at components and it was not easy as most other brands. Its like Ted Fletcher DIY home built, hand assembled like a 1950-1960 way....
