Alright, I bought a brand new BOSS BR-1180 CDR/W last November. It seemed to be working fine until, one night, I did something very stupid. Attempting to get a live recording of my band, I used the power-out of our PA-Head (an 8-channel 600w Pevey) and plugged it in to line one of the recorder. Evidently, you're not supposed to do that.

Needless to say, when I tried to play the recoding back, the qaulity was terrible. The pan for the tracks were set to the very middle, but every time you listen to everything on the middle pan it's very, very soft, distorted and has an echo. If you pan all the way left or right in either direction is sounds fine though.

Do you know why this is?

It's the same through headphones and monitors using a quater-inch plug in.

Do you think if I use the digital output via optical cable panning to the middle will sound alright?

Is it permanently damaged?

What should I do?

I mean, I figure using the out channel of the PA head (I forget whether it was left or right) may have done it, but if it did damage it, wouldn't it make the whole thing not work, not just that?

Also, playing CD's and the rhythm tracks also have the same softness and distortion.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
