Help, Drum Overheads!

Hi,

Planning on recording drums tomorrow, but i have a problem, I have been using 2 cheap Takstar PCM 6100 pencil condenser mics as overheads to record drums before, but now i have got a Rode NT1 and im wondering weather it would be better to use that instead, would it improve the sound of my drums much?

So the question is should i use either;

1) 2 Takstar PCM 6100 pencil condensers or
2) 1 Rode NT1

I am not too fussed about getting a stereo image of the drum kit.

Fanks alot

Can you do both without encoutering phasing problems, and compare teh results (i.e., put up all three mics., with the rode as an overhead)?

do the two pencils in recorderman and do the rode in the middle and then choose after recording?

or use all 3?

Yeah. If you have a spare track use the session to try this stuf out.
Another cool option- try the single mic out front of the kit, around top-of the kick height (+/-) a similar distance from the core of the kit (snare/kick junction, there abouts) as the stereo pair are up and/or back from there. It's a nice kick-hot' beffy mono picture of the kit that can stand on it's own or blend tone wise in interesting ways with the o/h pair.
