I have a fostex MR-8 HD and I have recorded a bunch of songs using 2 mics so the instrumentals are on track 1 and the vocals on track 2.

How do I export the tracks separately? I only know how to bounce both to tracks 7/8 in order to export them as a single .wav file, but I want to be able to edit them separately on my computer.

I need to be able to adjust the vocal track and instrumental track independently on my computer but I don't know to do that, basically.

 Yo Rain-man:

You should do FX and EQ before mixing, I think. That is, set up all the tracks as they sound on your monitors.

You can, with some gear, edit tracks, with this or that amount of success. But, I usually will re-do an errant track rather than try to fudge with edit. Of course, I do not use a PC based system; thus, you may be ahead of me on that.

I have edited a track blurb by just closing down the slider on that one "wrong" chord. A good friend of mine, owning his own studio business before retireing, told me he did that same thing many times. Of course, the bigger the blunder, the harder it is to fix.

But, if you search around here, and other places, you can get more help.

you havent really stated what you use on your computer but here goes .

bounce the first track down to 7/8 and convert it to wave, dont use the MR8-HD effects because they really suck, add them later maybe with your PC or an external rack ?.

plug in the USB cord and drag across the wave file to your PC and name it what you want.

then bounce the next track down to 7/8 and convert it to wave, you can name each track as a single song if you like to keep them seperate that way you can go back and redo each track if you dont like the result.

Then drag and drop this wav to you pc and name it something meaningfull . :)

you then have 2 seperate stereo tracks on your pc you can load into cubase or something similar to work with.

hope that helps :D

Sorry for this stupidity, but I'm new to recording....

If there are two tracks on 1 MR8 "song file," how do I bounce only on of the tracks at a time to 7/8?
