Welcome, Tony! :)

What kind of music do you want to produce, and what kind of sound are you shooting for?

hey pal
ah looking for a sound like tom delonge blink 182 that kinda of genre
have been looking on the music store on the net and they have some great stuff for very good prices so it is just a case of picking something out from there!
i am left handed but i am going to play right handed so not to restrict myself so to speak!
willing to spend a bit of money but nothing extremely expensive at the same time!

Are you a guitarist? If you see a DOD Juice Box pedal, I would definitely snap it up. I used to have one when I played guitar (or played around at playing guitar, rather) and just ordered another one. I plan to use it in conjunction with the TS-9 on my Casio CZ series keyboards for lead sounds. The CZs already cut through on their own, but I want some overdrive to make a fair approximation of a guitar sound. It doesn't have to sound like a real guitar, mind you, because the unrealistic vintage Casiotone sound is a major part of my schtick. :laughings:

My first guitar was a Squier Strat. The pickups squealed like a pig. You do not want. A better deal would be a Samick clone. I had a $300 Samick Tele with gold-plated hardware, and (I shit you not) it had one of the sweetest neck pickups I'd ever heard.

Be advised Tony that you may have to have that guitar "set up" for you.
It's not a big deal but most of the guitars sent out from the factory do need to be tinkered with for your playing pleasure.
I remember my first guitar (Decca) the strings must have been at least an inch off the fret board - a little exaggeration - but I kept at it till I got good then the first time that I played a decent guitar it was like a hot knife through butter I thought that I had died and gone to guitar heaven.
Be sure to get a tuner as well! ..The factory tuning of my guitar only lasted about 10 months ..:laughings:

That's amazing. I never had a Floyd Rose tuning that lasted more than five minutes. :laughings:

Here's another tip. Practice with heavy strings, then switch to a lighter gauge when performing. You'll be amazed at how fast your fingers fly over the fretboard.

thanks for the advice guys have a few lads here that know their stuff about guitars that said they will tune the guitar and sort out all the small bits for me :D

This is a brave decision tony. I'm a left hander, and while I'm no virtuoso I'm considerably better than I could ever be on my right hand. You might be limited in terms of buying gear if you get a lefthanded guitar, you're likely to be quite limited in terms of ability if you try and force yourself to play with your weaker hand.

I may be wrong, but I would be really tempted to stick lefthanded.

i know what you mean alright the way i'm looking at it at the moment is if i dont get on well with the right handed i will sell it and go left handed...i have plenty time on my hands so i am willing to experiment with differant set ups etc
i have been talking to a few friends of mine that are big into their music and they said to go right handed will be better in the long term because when you develop and get better you can pick up anyones guitar and play whereas if you play left handed you cant if you follow me?

Cool, just wanted to make sure you'd at least considered that - not being able to share around the guitar probably my biggest frustration too, though I can just about form chords on a righthanded acoustic played upside down...

received all my gear last monday from musicstore.com in Germany

this includes:
epiphone les paul junior (white)
behringer vt30fx amp with foot switch
strap
.60mm dunlop tortex plecs
strap
guitar and footswitch cables
kam khp1000 head phones for amp
and a set of ernie ball regular slinky strings which i must re string onto the guitar

very happy with everything and i am in the process of settling back into playing and i am currently learning my first song in 6 years which is going very well so far
this is just the start of what will hopefully be an exciting and interesting journey and hope to try start a band and get writing and recording songs by around this time next year all going well!
feedback is more than welcome
thanks
Tony!
