Great to hear Tony!! Just be sure and keep to a good regiment of a practice schedule and most importantly find other people to jam with.

As we are on the subject of left handed playing I always thought it weird that soon after the Beatles hit the music scene, that in movies and TV shows that showed bands playing that there was a HUGE amount of left hand bass players in all of these bands.
I often thought that maybe they forced themselves to learn to play the bass lefty for the novelty of it!

Right on with the Epi choice there Bro, I have an Epi Les Paul Classic, love it to death. I agree with moresound, get a tuner dude, they're cheap as chips and you won't want to rely on someone else tuning for you for long, the tuner (get a Korg, you can thank me later) makes it a no brainer. When you do get a tuner my Epi came with a tuning guide, I'm like I've played for 30 years I know how to tune, as a laugh I read it. Shit was it worth it. Most of us learned to tune manually. you have to go from bottom to top. With a tuner you don't, tuning from outside in makes tuning far easier and faster, start with the low E, then the high E, A, then B, G then D. evens out the tension on the neck.

AS for being lefty and playing righty, unless you already play and want to learn a new way I don't think you should have a problem. I didn't, neither did CC DeVille. You know I have never seen a left handed piano. If you play righty from the start I think you should be fine. Feels a bit less natural, but that passes real quick. I don't regret it at all, as you say you've got a much wider variety of gear. At MUCH better prices.

thanks for the advise guys
got a tuner also and i was doing the D string and the tuner told me to keep going and keep going, was nearly there and the string snapped!
have a friend that is one of the best guitarists i've ever seen come over and help me with the new strings and tuning
i am playing right handed and am i lefty
so far so good and it does not feel as awkward as i thought it would
the amp is amazing quality it is just a case of getting the right set up and the right effects when needed
these are all minor details that can be sorted very easily so im not worrying about them
have really been enjoying myself playing so far and hope to catch on quickly
at the moment i am thinking of buying another guitar, this time an epiphone es333 (tom delonge signature)

Wonder if you were an octave too high. They always tune guitars at the factory, it aint going to arrive still in tune, but they tune them to ensure they will tune up properly, set intonation etc. I've never had a string snap on the initial tune up when a new guitar's been received. Try the method of tuning I mentioned, I guarantee you'll never go back. As for Epiphone, love em.

received all my gear last monday from musicstore.com in Germany

this includes:
epiphone les paul junior (white)

Ahh sweet. I just saw this thread, and was going to recommend something Epi as a starter guitar! Great line of guitars.:)

You know I have never seen a left handed piano.

That's an interesting thought :D I wonder how one of those would work!

Aww, the first snapped string. This is always a special moment for all guitarists, and chances are that you will remember that broken string for the rest of your life ;) Still remember the first one I broke...high E :laughings:

:laughings: ya i'll remember it alright!
ya the epiphone is great so is the behringer amp can't say a bad word about any of the equipment i got
the thing i am most happy about is that i am more comfortable playing right handed than i ever could have dreamed of so i think that little gamble has payed off
i will also be starting practicing with a friend soon which will also be a big help i hope!
@moresound: whats a hoarder? :laughings:
