Hello

I am new to this forum but not to recording in general.

I frequented this forum to see what other people do in terms of home recording. Its been nearly 10 years since I have been dabbling with home recording. Although, in my opinion, home recording is not the most ideal way of making a hit record its a satisfying hobby.

Here is a pic of me at a huge NEVE VRP96 console at the largest studio on the African continent.

I served there as head technical.

So what...I have two of those consoles in my spare bedroom

Just kidding, seems like you might have some cool tips and tricks to offer us home hobbyist types, glad to have you here :)

Curious, what does the job of "head technical" entail? Same as engineer?

That console gives me happy pants!:D

Welcome aboard!

Thank you guys!

I will most glad to share some tips here.

Head Technical basically entails me having to put the smoke back into an electronic device when it escapes. Lol!

Happy pants... wait till you lay eyes on the Focusrite in Studio One

Welcome Ghost in the machine ! Did you record music at the studio or chase the USS Enterprise around the galaxy ! ? I almost saw Chekhov and Sulu at the helm !!

WOW!! console in the round! Does one have to be air lifted in?

Floppy disc man. :D

I think I ejaculated in my pants, hang on a sec, no, we're okay.

Tee-heee! ... floppy is new compared to the Bernouli drives the SSL used. The Focusrite runs with an Apple Computer.

But do note the consoles can operate without the computers. The computers only serve as a mix recall mechanism.

Yeah - music was recorded there by the score...! (Please dont ask me which artists or albums - I am not authorized to mention it here.)

 You have a confidentiality agreement on what bands recorded at the studio you worked at? I didn't know the CIA was in the record business

Wow !
"Er, Chili, what is our policy regarding spies ?"

I suppose it would be just too corny to say "Ghost in the Machine" by the Police ?
But I'll say it anyway.

you should replace those antiques with Reaper :D

welcome aboard!

Well, if you really need to know follow this link

Do note that I am not affiliated with the studio any more. I have spent some wonderful time there and have a special place for it in my heart.

Not to make ya jealous or anything but........
