ok hello guys!! here is a short clip and first attempt at putting something together. what do you reckon?

Good tight guitar playing.

For my tastes I thought you had the gain set a little bit too high. It makes them a bit too fuzzy and indistinct. Personal taste thing, but I'd also back off the reverb on them. The verb might not be as noticeable once vocals are in. But it was just a little too wet for me. I'd also start the doubled guitars earlier in the song - don't make the listener wait for the full force of them.

Turn up the lead guitar licks by probably 5-6 dbs.

I'm sure you'll get some comments on the drums.

Oh and the overall level of the mix is pretty quiet.

Awesome thanks TripleM, i have a complete song written but i want to learn some basic knowledge before re recording and getting rid of the cheesy synth. Am i supposed to record with delay or add it later also do i use separate delays for each guitar track or just one for all?

Definitely add the delay later. And using separate or same delay depends. Do you want the same delay on all the tracks? Or do you want a different delay on the individual tracks?

sounds good...too much gain in the guitars make it sound like mush...dunno how many tracks youre using but they dont seem very defined...drums could be louder but they sound good for software...

Thanks dude, you are very correct i think the guitars sound like mush also and i dont know how to mix or quantize without cutting out a cymbal or a snare or something. My eqing was all done from guesswork could you or anybody recommend any good reading or watching material for this style of music? i have tried other suggested metal techniques it seems to sound worse. ha ha yeah im still learning how to drum so my creativity in this department is very standard im just lucky the Foundry software sounds good with my edrums

If you want the same delays, you are going to want to have all the tracks routed to the delay track. You don't want to add separate delays that are the same not because they add mud, (which I don't think they do) but because the more delay plug-ins you have, the more your pushing the computer. If you had all the tracks to the same delay, your saving the time to not redo the delay effect you want, and your saving your computer from overloading on plug-ins.
