Anyone know anything about the HD24 ..i import a perfectly good wav but on playback from Alesis, its distorted

Distorted in what way? (meters in the red? snap-crackle-pop?? excess noise???)

Could be a simple as a sample rate or word-size mismatch.

I matched the sample rate and KHZ to the predefined wavs in the alesis so they matched perfectly... it does peak and crackle, in Sound forge the wav is fine

"Predefined WAVs" in Alesis????????

What do you mean by this?

Explain how you're saving the file in Sound Forge....

When you create a song you set the bit rate.... if you ftp you can see tracks of wavs... its these i'm talking about

Saved in sound forge the same 24 bit 48khz

When saving in Sound Forge, you should be choosing "Wave (Microsoft) (*.wav)" as opposed to several other WAV options, and setting the sample rate and word size according to what the sound was originally recorded at. If you've done that, there isn't an issue with playback due to the WAV format.

Have you checked the monitoring path from the HD24? How are you hearing the HD24 (compared to the files via Sound Forge)?

(ie, maybe the sound is distoring in Sound Forge, but the way you're monitoring there doesn't let you hear it?)

I'll double check but i think i'd done this also.. thxs

soundforge appears not to be clipping or distorting, the .wav file is OK, but when we ftp to say track01 on the alesis the level is banging the red.

Can you post a short fragment of the file? (or email it to me - contact info at my website)

I've just brought a floppy with a segment on and the drive wont read my floppy..... trying to checkdisk on it. to recover unless you know of any other util
