Hi. I got 20GB HD (two 10GB partitions). The first one"C" got all system files and SONAR, "D" got all data and music files. C saves all my projects, it will be full soon, so I want to transfer all the Audio Data and projects to the other partition. What folders should I copy/transfer to D. ??? (I know how to change the paths in SONAR)

Hope I could buy 60GB HD soon.

Thanks

Therein your question lies your answer... That is if I am understanding you. All the folders in the OPTIONS->GLOBAL->FOLDER should be copied and then make sure you point Sonar to those folders on the new partition. And then whatever other folders you have that you want to keep...

Maybe there are some folders that should be moved, otherwise SONAR could not work well. I´ve never tried that so I´m insecure.

Then move the whole folder if you are unsure. I am assuming you could always re-install Sonar if needed...

You´re right. I forgot that when you reinstall your projects and audio data remains on your HD.

Thanks Vice

Hi,
I'm still using Cakewalk Home Studio 2002 but I think Sonar will work the same as far as the handling of the files is concerned. I used to save all my projects as workfiles (.wrk) and it was'nt long before my HD was full. You should save your projects as bundles (.bun) Then look under Cakewalk Projects\Audio Data, and you'll find all the unused Wave (.wav) files and under Cakewalk Projects\Picture Cache, you'll find all the unused .wov files. Only do this AFTER you have saved ALL your projects as bundles. Just the files thats needed for your project gets saved in the bundle. Now you can move your files wherever you like. You can even write your bundles to CD and they will still work on different PC's with Sonar loaded. Also clean these directories after finishing with a project.
Hope this will help.
