having a problem at mixdown

I have found mixes always sound a tiny bit better before mixdown. It requires very nice monitors to hear the differences though. I think it's just the way the software combines the sounds.

Interesting. My mixes sound better after mixdown and I've spent time EQing, working with effects, getting the levels right, etc.
