Any one heard the remix of Mariah Carey's "touch my body" ?

Now that 808 heavy rendition is. . . . inspiring!

Im tryin to do beats like that - at least for a hot minute!
 
Eh, I can praise an R&B singer or a good rocker any day and have no ill will about it.

Now as far as rappers go...I miss the 90's era of rap. I miss rap not being so mainstream and being a little bit on the edge of offensive.

Like Fyre once said "sometimes we need to put aside political correctness, so we can come up with the method"

That's why I'm just gonna say what I'm gonna say on wax, whether it means it doesn't get airplay or not because I deep down hope for a reemergence of real rap.

I agree that Hip-Hop just hasn't been the same since the early to mid 90's. I just don't see what people like about the mainstream Hip-Hop sound now:confused:. You don't even have to have any lyrical talent now to make it big. A few gold teeth, a repetitive beat and a gimmick style and you are the next big thing. I too hope that there is a resurrection of the 90's style of Hip-Hop.
 
i dont like the gold teeth, but im in love wit 808 so i can always find something "hype" about today's radio hip hop . . ./ problem is taht golden era allowed for various genres of hip hop to share the spot light, nowadays the radio is only playing "club/gangsta" - its the isolation that makes me sick, but im still phuckin wit plenty of "today" rap artists . . . i may not call em lyricists though . . . there is a lot of "lackage" in complexity . . . but i buy underground artists today, the same way i did in the 90's . . . i randomly snatch up indie and unknown artists from the record store . . .

I agree, 90s had some of the best rap and hip hop. This shit today is straight gar-bage. First you have T-Pain biting off Zapp (R.I.P.) and then letting everybody that records with him do the same. No one will replace Roger Troutman, that was original shit.

Everybody wanna talk about what they got and how hard they are (even if it's not true). It's less and less about being real with it and more and more about "fake it till' I make it" and then it will be true. I will admit though....there is a difference between faking it and storytelling. The problem is that most couldn't tell their way out a little white lie.
 
guess im trippin cuz i like that t pain shit. yes he snatched up r. troutman's thing . . . but i really think the majority of artists ESP. when rnb is even "hinted at" (more so than strait hip hop) as tpain is supposedly an rnb artist . . . that rnbhiphopblend of course, but he hiimself is more rnb than "rap" . . . many of today's rnb artists are re-interpreting previous rnb artists . . .

even when d angelou came out, the smokey robin-ness of him was glaring . . . to those who knew . . . in that regard, the younger generation never knows the obvious comparisons cuz they only know their own generation's musical persepective

i dont hate on any of the artists if the song itself is hot! i hate on teh radio - between bullshit djs on the radio that WONT push the envelope and play other genres adn the video stations that jock the corporate tit! . .. thats the real problem . . . i only get sick of the overindulgence of 1 thing . . . but i usually get arond to bangin a lil bit of everything . . . even . . . "hey baby " type shit . . . now i mite b a lil tipsy when i do it . . .lol but its all got a "place" on the shelf, on the dial, in the cd slot changer . . .

Just wanted to make a little correction. Although the T-Pain thing sounds similar to Roger Troutman the method by which T-Pain and all the other current artists achieve that sound is actually done using an excessive amount of pitch correction. It's turned up so much that you can hear the notes make drastic changes giving that sound to his voice. Here is a link with some examples and a better explanation.

I can't actually say I've noted a lack of PC, rather a normalising/desensitizing of prejudices.
