For fuck sake!

I'd figure a big recording exec. has better things to do.

Let's drop this BS thread NOW. No more posts.

--->note to the "general": go away... your ridiculous posts serve no purpose here other than to defend yourself.

--->note to others: here's a thought... how about we just ignore these rants, as hard as it may be, so he will just go away. i appreciate folks fighting the good fight, but it is obvious that it is not ever going to sink in with this guy, and the rehashing of this topic is getting mighty old. it makes this forum look like a soap opera. the most productive thing you can do is to ignore this maniac, so he will go away, which is the goal... right?

... i truly believe that people like this thrive on conflict, and enjoy a good fight. i also believe that if you ignore them, they will go away. it's really the only solution... you just give guys like the general more to write about when you attack him, even though i understand your intent is honorable. he craves attention... don't give him any. spend your time on positive things.

Puts you squarely in the anti-VMG camp - loaded with Black Supremacists who spew nothing of substance and everything of hatred everywhere they post.

Does not deserve and will not get an apology.

And in your defense:

... and i think most of the folks on this board consider maketing/publicity = getting your cd out there, and getting some press/local radio play. most of this thread is about radio, which is a large part of the industry, but discussions on clear channel and such isn't much use to an independent artist. what is of use is discussions on booking, getting press, internet exposure, college and community radio, networking, and unique and creative ways to get your cd into the hands of those that will dig it, and will hopefully pass the word along. in my experience, there are no shortcuts, and consigning your cd's in indie outlets, doing radio drop-ins at local radio in those areas, in-store appearances in those areas, playing shows in those areas, and getting local press in those areas, will get people to your shows, sell cd's, and get people talking about your music. so, yes, word of mouth does fill my belly, but it takes all those other things to create word of mouth.
i play close to 200 shows a year, regularly get good press, and have sold over 3000 of my cd's over the last 3 years, all without a label, management, or distribution (although i had a distro deal for about 3 months, but bailed cuz i did better on my own). i don't say this to blow my own horn, but to try and show what can be accomplished if you work hard at it. it definitely ain't easy, but networking with folks on a useful forum such as this helps. that is why i get annoyed when i see time wasted with bickering on threads like this.
for those of you who want to be big stars, then go ahead and discuss the all this big time, big money radio (i, too find it interesting to see how things work in big business). but for those of you who have more realistic expectations, i am happy to discuss and exchange ways for the independent artist to be "successful" in this industry, as long as it stays civil.

However, such ‘discussion’ and advice from those of us who have been there, paid the bills and the dues, are always attacked by the crack-pot Idiot Element when our information shows them to be abject life-long fools! Any comment from me, or any of my colleagues, and artists is always met with the Idiot Element’s defamations and worthless nonsense that invariably resorts to ‘racist’ and ‘cultist’ when they can’t find anything of substance against me, VMG, our colleagues or artists. Never fails. We have a series of inside-company pools that open the instant we post - as to how many posts there will be before the never documented charges of (1) scam, (2) racist and (3) cult are resorted to. The fourth pool is “who” will post which first!

In their stupid jealousies, they really can’t stand to think anyone else accomplished something they could only dream about.

They’re too stupid to understand their failures have a reason! Buying into the never-did-work bullshit that pervades this Industry from top to bottom, side to side and front to back. It’s originated and perpetuated to eliminate competition at the lowest possible cost. And the never-thinking fools fall for it day in and day out year after year.

If they spent one percent of the time trying to document any instance where their beloved bullshit ever worked they spend on re-vomiting the same false claims against me and VMG they’d find a tremendously HUGE big fat zero! They can’t produce one single artist who ever “made it” and ended up with a damned thing via the terms of all those Beer Joint Baritone DELUSIONS they love so much and waste their lives on.

Those few artists who HAVE survived all became their own Executive Producers either directly or via their own corporate operations. The corporate situation being to both limit liability and take advantage of tax provisions. Most Super Stars came out of the gate as their own ExPs and maintain that status or end up losing their asses too.

... oh yeah, and a byproduct of doing all this yourself is learning the biz from the ground up, developing a great work ethic, and most importantly, all those show will make you as good as you can possibly be at your craft.
i apologize for hijacking this thread a bit.

And the real BUSINESS side of THAT is what the VMG website is all about! To see for yourself, all you have to do is read it with your intelligence intact rather than the closed-minded preconceived stupidities of the Idiot Element. HOW this Best Of All Industries REALLY works, the never-did-work scenarios, scams to avoid, and HOW TO DO IT AND DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME are all there. It isn’t smoozed and it isn’t politically ‘correct’. But it IS the cold, hard take-it-to-the-bank every day TRUTH!

Not everybody wants the rigors and obligations of Stardom, let alone Super Stardom. But I did! And in my own stupidity I built a company to make damned sure I could get there. Once I had the company, and my head OUT of my ass, I realized the information I had accumulated by first-person hands on experience was far more satisfying and valuable than the glitz and glamour of the spotlight. And, it paid the bills!

I never thought when Leadbelly was teaching me to play guitar on a HUGE 12-String that it would end in crunching numbers for a business plan representing millions of dollars. But it did! The procedures of that business plan are now long-obsolete but the updated figures aren’t, and the experience is as valid today as it was then. Too bad the Idiot Element doesn’t like it. But that’s to be expected since the Idiot Element hates everything that doesn’t rubber-stamp and endorse their stupidity and delusions.

We’ve seen the same Idiot Element nonsense from day one when we entered the net. David Hooper’s Indie Board had it’s collection, as does Velvet Rope (who are now a laughing stock because they tolerate the Idiot Element over those with TRUE EXPERIENCE), and the now-demised and un-mourned mp3.jackass. Neither the charges nor the tactics changed from any one to date. The lying spewers were full of shit then, and they are full of shit now.

To Wit:

Everything was emailed to me from VMG haters everywhere.

If you have ANY emails from VMG haters - post them! Addresses and all. Then we’ll see if ANY OF THEM ever did business with VMG and if so, under what terms and services.

THE FACT IS: YOU’RE A GOD DAMNED LIAR!

You don’t have any communications - emails or otherwise - from anybody about VMG except other damned fools and damned liars spewing your collective stupidities from this BB!

I caught mp3.suckshit’s Jodi Summers in the same damned lie - called her on it just like I’m calling you - AND GOT HER ASS FIRED WHEN SHE COULDN’T DELIVER! I’ll be satisfied just showing you to be the damned liar I know for a fact you are.

Two others I nailed at mp3.crackpot for their damned lies were: Tiffany Barsotti and Rod Underhill. Unfortunately Phil Frazier supported Jodi and got himself nailed when she couldn’t deliver on her damned lies. I caught them in FOUR outrageous damned lies and called them on all FOUR! But the Idiot Element and self-appointed supremacists like you took mp3.sewerpit’s side very time. Ask anyone who was there who is also capable of the TRUTH and they will tell you that I was right each and every time on each and every point!

NOW DELIVER YOU LYING SON OF A BITCH!

The promo library promise?

Well there is no promise just a roll of the dice. So if you do well in Vegas this is for you? Personally I would rather spend my money were I know it will work. What I mean by that is. Do what has worked for you in the past because what has worked once will work again and again. You may have to add a little twist here and there but it will work if you have a positive outlook and don't be side tracked by the so called easy way around the way it has always been and always will be. If you want to be in the game you have to play the game not reinvent it, If you have the talent you will be a success without the big record contract. One thing for sure in my 37 + years in this business is know were your money goes. You can throw it into all the black holes you want but once it enters the darkness you will never see it again. If you can't follow the money trail it is not worth going down that path. Be smart with your money and you will watch it grow. Only repeat what has worked before. Unless ofcourse you do well in Vegas then gamble away. Oh just incase your wondering if I know what I may be talking about. I have raised two children both are happy and well educated both with masters degrees. I have a beautiful home in the country with acreage and a pond I also have a wonderful little home on a beatutiful little lake which I will be retiring to in the not to distant future, a beatutiful wife of plus 32 years. Music is the only thing I have ever been good at, so I devoted my entire working life to it. That is the key to success not the get rich quick scenarios that always end up at a dead end road. You have to work your ass off to get where you want to get. Take this little bit of advise if you don't get anything else out of what I have said. Work at music atleast 8 to 10 hours a day atleast 5 to 6 days a week (that is what you would do if you worked/work a day gig) and find people to work with who do the same, you will be a success! Make music your day gig! You'll be better for it and you won't be grasping at straws or looking for the easy way to fame. The people who have (what the industry calls) made it, have worked very hard to get to that place and are working even harder to stay there (No matter how good or bad they may be) Remember fame is only a surface thing but living comfortably goes a whole lot deeper and last a whole lot longer. Put it this way. Playing music and working really hard at it is a whole lot better than working really hard in front of a punch press or a desk. Have fun and don't take yourself so serious that it gets in the way of being creative! Oh ya before I forget Be the nicest person in the world to everybody in the world. Don't ever think you deserve anything. Don't ever think that somebody owes you something.
Even if your passed up for something. If it is your turn it will be your turn. Things happen for a reason and only for a reason. You can work it your way if you work hard.
