hi all,
i made a song based on the first harry potter game's music, but alas,i haven't uploaded it anywhere in mp3 format,so i guess i have to show it to you on youtube with a worse quality:)
(i have to mention that i'm not much into mastering,so please focus on the melody itself:D)
so,this is it:
youtube.com/watch?v=ivLbJ-xKsZE

yepp, and of course i can send the mp3 file if anyone is interested

i have to admit i was expecting something really bad lol

and it wasnt

i dont know what your skill level is so excuse me if it seems a little harsh

when you're using the seem beat for 3 minutes it gets boring fast...not that you really have to change the beat just stop it every now and then, or automated a filter on it..especially in parts when its almost on its own..

also there's little tension when you introduce new parts to the tune...a simple and effective device is just to have a reverse crash going into it followed immediately with a crash..it gets the listeners attention and declares New Part!(this is particularly effective if you just muted the drum track just before it..

the string patches coming in around 2 mins were great but just a little thin..unless they are real frequency filling pads stick a layer underneath...even if its the same strings just an octave down...maybe have different strings coming in form different sides/pans to, again, keep the listeners interest

for starters these will improve what youve got...but it still needs some bass...even it its an arp lower down in the octives just coming in and out of the song..

keep at it...and convert your stuff to MP3s...it very unlikely people will look up youtube links in here

well,thanks for the review:D
mmm, bout the beat: i know it may sound boring, but my goal was to give a pulse-like effect/feeling,that keeps going all the way through the song, and the thing that really is about the rythm would've been the melody.but i guess i'm not that good at making music to do this in a fine quality:D
about the strings:you're absolutely right,i was so satisfied with the melody that i didn't even care about putting effects on different channels:D

yeah I use mainly the same beat through songs..and I dont mean muting over large sections just dropping it just before a change up..like a couple of beats

you're making music fine enough, just keep pushing yourself with each new track

the trick with electronic music is not what you add...but what you take away :)

Hey, good production work from my perspective. One IMHO Criticisim..

Since some woman doctor figured out that 95% of men are ADD and need to be drugged to be normal...

The first 20 measures get booring after about the fifth one. I believe it would be better if it got to the point sooner.
