Hi,
I would appreciate any help/advice that anyone can provide.
I am an experienced home recorder and am going to make the switch from analog 8 track to hard-disk, computer recording.
The kind of music I am going to do will include guitar, synth, loops, vocals, acoustic drums, etc. But only one instrument will be recorded at a time.
I'm looking to buy a Dell PIII 700MHz, 128 SDRAM, 20 Gig Ultra ATA 7200RPM Hard Drive, and top that off with a Yamaha DSP Factory Sound Card.
My questions are:
(1) How many tracks do you think I will be able to record/playback with this kind of computer? (I want to record and playback 16 tracks at 20 or 24 bit).
(2) Would I be better off buying a SCSI drive?
(3) What's your opinion on the Yamaha DSP Factory?
(4) Is there anything I should look out for when buying a CD-RW?
Thanks!!!
Ian
PS - This is a great site! It's a God send. Keep up the good work.
