Hi All
I have a HD24 XR ADAT recorder. I bought a Western Digital 80gig hard drive to use with it and I cannot get the ADAT to recognize the HD. Each time I try to load the HD it gives me a jumper error. The HD needs to be set to master, and it is. I have also tried it on the other settings, slave, cable select, as well. I have also tried a different brand HD (hitachi) and had the same problem. any ideas?

Thanks!
Eric

There have been lots of discussions of hard disk issues on the HD24 group on Yahoo. Western Digital drives, especially newer ones, have triggered this problem for a sizeable number of users. I've never heard of anyone having trouble with Hitachi, but it's not a very common drive, so it may just not have come up in conversation.

If your drive has a jumper setting for Master with no slave, try that. On some drives, you indicate it by removing all selection jumpers. But based on the last WD drive that I tried, you may have to return it and get a different brand. A lot of people like Seagates.

Good to know others have had an issue with WD HD's and its not just me :o I went online and found more jumper settings than what they say on the HD from WD and I did try pretty much every jumper setting the had just to see if I could get it to work.

I will go out and get a Seagate.

Thanks for your help!

I too have had this problem. HD set to master but everytime I load it I get an error message regarding jumper failure. Really sucks. Western Digital. Try just to keep loading it and have another "good" HD in the other bay, then copy all off western.
