The CT100 is a nifty and inexpensive tool for quickly testing free and installed cables. It accepts all standard connectors including XLR, 1/4" and 1/8" TRS, RCA and midi.

You can test for shorts, continuity and intermittent faults quickly and easily. There are test tones available, and a check for presence of phantom power.

I manage a modest weekly live band production in a church, and I always keep this tool handy. I keep a few spare mic and instrument cables on hand, and am able to solve most cabling issues in a matter of seconds.

You can certainly pay more for such testers, but at under $50 in most places, the CT100 is definitely worth considering for even modest recording or sound reinforcement.

Nice product stroke! lol!

I agree completely. Great unit.

I have one myself.

I have a CT-100 also. Paid less then $25 for it. Great tool, especially the intermittent fault test function. Anybody who uses cables should have one in their tool box. I don't take it to live gigs 'cause I carry enough spare cables that I can simply replace one rather than take the time to test it, but it sure makes testing and repairing faster when I get a suspect cable home.

<chuckle!>

I had just read a HR post about a cable issue that someone had experienced, and it reminded me of how a cable tester can sometimes be a real sanity saver.

Yep, everyone should own one. Totally a sanity saver!

My was given to me as a present and it has been on my bench in the shop from that day on. Very handy.
When Am on the road though I have to carry a multimeter so I can chase down cable problems with that.
