Hi guys,
I am new to recording and I am planning to start making an album with my friends. We have Neumann KMS 104 which I love for stage use. We also have a couple of SM58 and BETA 87. I've research on the internet about my question but couldn't find any answer which I think sufficient. My question is, what is the disadvantages using handheld microphone to using "proper" large diaphragm microphone? Everytime I am in a studio, the mic used for recording vocal is always the large diaphragm. I've looked at the difference between large and small diaphragm in the FAQ section. It just say that large diaphragm for color and size. What do you mean by color and size?
I am considering buying a KSM44 or AKG C414 for the project, but if they will not make any difference with my KMS104, then I will probably use the money for something else. The problem is I can't try microphones here before buying.
Please enlighten me
Thanks
