guys im trying to do something sooooo simple but i cant seem to get it done. what i want to do is SYNC acid 3.0 with my roland vs880ex. i want to RECORD the vs tracks into acid. i have my sound card set up and im going in DIGITAL. however here is the problem. i want to be able to hit RECORD on acid and have the vs stuff playback. where are the settings that i need to change on acid to make this possible and what should i set my vs to?

thanx.

What's up C.O.B. :)

I don't have Acid in front of me at the moment, but you need to set Acid to generate MTC or MIDI CLOCK (I'm not sure which one the VS880 responds to...).

OPTIONS>PREFERENCES>SYNC tab

Set-up Midi Time Code device (generate), Midi Clock (generate), Midi Time Code (chase).

That should do the trick for ya'.....

:D

when i checked the vs MIDI settings it had mmc (master, slave and off)

when i checked the vs SYNC/TEMPO settings it had MIDI CLOCK and MTC.

i know how to make the vs send messages to the xp60 and have it play back.......hey....... so what would i need to do???

You may already be aware, but the VS must be in SLAVE mode. As stated above, set the software to output timecode and that should be the extent of it. Call Roland's tech support if you still have problems.

C.O.B., you need to find out which one the VS responds to (MIDI Time Code or MIDI Clock). It should be in your documentation. If you can't find it OR you don't have it, then you could probably[/B} go online to the Roland site and check the manual. Once you've figured that out, you must tell the VS to be the SLAVE unit instead of the MASTER unit.

So.... Acid (MASTER), VS 880 (SLAVE), XP60 (SLAVE)
