Guitar strap color to match Gibson’s cream appointments

I have a Gibson ‘98 Std from a guitar down in Orlando. Sound selected from a lot of vintage LPs, shortlisted, and bought it.

Previous owner unknown but changed appts to black (speed knobs and pickguard. I like that but used a black leather strap hand made from a longtime singer bud. That strap is on the ‘85 Custom, and switched it out on this heavy beast.

What I want, what will make me happy, is a new strap that matches the color of the stock Gibson appointments (1998 so they’ve matured a little), not precise but that cream Gibson color.

Anyone else do this? Strap color match with the appointments? I ordered one online and color was off when it arrived yesterday. Gibson has a distinct cream (even on new models off the floor) that I can’t find in a strap color.

I can play with any style strap and just as good, but color is important to me with this guitar. Black strap usually but I want a matching color for the appointments.

Anyone know a manufacturer that makes a Gibson cream appointment color strap stock? I could check it in to GC with that hassle with a receipt, remove the toggle plate, etc., but maybe there is a simpler way.

First online strap was off color, and I could keep ordering h and returning all day long but that takes time. Gibson (even new in ‘90s and maybe still today) has a distinct, Nureyev cream color of the appointments, new off the floor before they age.

Anybody else do a strap match with beautiful Gibson stock binding or no? This is the least morphed of my LPs and very close to factory cream color. The other two are ‘80s and have some club play vibe, understandably.

Here is the ‘98 Std.. 27 years but not a lot of yellowing compared to my others and very close to current Gibson cream that is unique.
Bought it for unplugged sound among other vintage at the show. Previous owner changed pickguard and knobs to black. Everything else all original including the over-powered pups. Stone stock and have never not been able to make the girl sound like I needed her to with volume or tone roll-offs. But where is that strap that can match Gibson factory appointments?

Anyone else tried to match a strap with yours?

Show and tell if you have.

Short of taking a piece of plastic, or getting a matching color chip and talking to the strap makers, it's going to be a tough thing to match the color. Computer photos will vary a bunch. When we match colors in the paint/ink industry we use the Pantone color system. You literally got the number of the target color, and you would match that color.

If you can go to Home Depot's paint department, you might be able to find a good paint color chip and then you could talk to the strap makers and reference that, or maybe mail it to them.

I might be looking at something that isn't necessarily a match but can complement the black and cream motif. The Native Sons ElDorado strap in gold/black with hemp backing might look nice.

I’m not taking the strap out of the plastic since it’ll be returned but think the color come through in the pic. It’s close, but Gibson has more yellow in the hue, the strap with a little greyish hue to the beige.

Funny because in this pic it looks like a near match. In real life the difference is more pronounced.
