Well, I managed to chip the paint on the front of my Ibanez with the edge of a chair. The wood is not damaged, the chip is about as big as a dime. Any suggestions on repair (besides slapping a sticker over it)?

<weeping> Thanks

Quick fix... nail polish

Permanent fix... uh, I'm too high on nail polish...what was the question?

:D

Any repair will probably look as bad/or worse than the damage itself.

How about refinishing the body?

Yeah but...

I didn't buy a $1000 guitar to chip "character" into it.

I agree with hixmix and slackmaster2K. Anything you do short of a professional restoration will probably attract more attention and piss you off more than just letting it be.
As far as scratches, I haven't tried it. I can't imagine it would help much though, because even slight discolorations are pretty noticeable on a high gloss finish like a guitar.

Absolutely! Especially now that you say it's a thousand dollar guitar. Leave it be or go for the pro refinishing.

Yeah, I would leave it alone for now. Give it time and see if you get used to it being there. Maybe it won't be that bad. You can always have it refinished if still bums you out.
