They do sell them, but if you're not rolling in money just buy some wood and make your own. It's nothing but a box where the top half comes off! Use good wood, screws, glue, and draw (not drawer!) latches to keep the halves together. If you want to make it look like it's worth $400, buy some Tolex by the yard and stick it on. I made myself a $120 box for my rack effects from about $20 worth of wood...

I was thinking about building a sort of box that the top comes off of that will hold all my effects pedals in and have a power supply and have them all hooked together. I would also like a 1/4" input on one side and a 1/4" ouput on the other side. Now, does anyone know if I can buy this or does anyone know how I would go about building one? any help is appreciated.

... and depending on the style of your band, go to your local army surplus store and buy a used ammunition box (yes, no kidding!) The design is exactly the right size and they come pre-hinged (is that a real word?) so it's a breeze to put the whole thing together.

Also check out the Boss multi power source for stomp boxes. You can run several 9-volt effects from one power outlet.

Also try to set it up with double sided male to male jack plugs; there's less signal loss than if you use short cables.

Hey Dragon;
Can you give us a few more details about the "wood rack mount" that you made?
How deep does it need to be?
Plywood? Pine?
What type of hardware do you use to mount the effects units? Do you use wood screws? or did you drill and tap metal mounting strips.

I need to build a rack to fit in a certain spot, so being able to make one the exact size would be great. (Control room space is precious!). Thanks in advance!

Dragon;
NEVER MIND!

(I just read the do it yourself "Build a Rack")
Thanks, it is very specific, and I think I am going to try it!
