I just wanted to chime in that I love my THD HotPlate. It was worth every penny.

Anywho, thought I'd at least chime in about one of the other attenuators since you're getting plenty of advice on Webers :)
Thanks, Tadpui, I appreciate it. :)

by the way, what's a 'rep'?
Look at any post, at the upper right. They'll say Rep Power, followed by a number. Rep stands for "reputation." This number comes from other members clicking on that little symbol in the upper right of a post - the one that looks like a balance scale - and selecting a radio button for "did" or "did not" approve of that post.

The higher the number, the cooler you are. :D

Check your control panel - you'll see I gave you (and everyone else on this thread) some positive rep.

While we're talking options here, I'm surprised no one has mentioned my favorite...

I can get some nice tone out of that old Twin without getting arrested.

i've heard a lot of good things about the Z unit, but the price was just too way scary!!

thanks for that info on the rep thingy...
i've always wondered what that stuff was for........

I'm getting great results with a Line 6 Floor Pod Plus into a Pignose G40V + Eminence Rajin' Cajun [who makes up these names?] 10" speaker and a 12AU7 substituted for the 12AX7 in the middle of the tone stack. The wah on the Line 6 is killer (it's hard to really get into the discipline to use it right -- you feel like a teenage with his learner's permit and a '68 Dodge Hemi at first).

There are so many choices that sooner or later you'll find THE sound...I have, several times.

Update:

I just ordered a Weber Mass 150. I want to be able to crank that Matamp.

I'll let y'all know how it works out. I'm particularly curious to see if it will work OK with the AC30 as well.

i imagine you will love it for mild attenuation with both of those. i also imagine you will find more extreme attenuation rather uninspiring, and will rarely use it that way. personally, i would rather clean up the amp then play with more than 50% attenuation on the mass.

still, what it does well, it *really* does well.
