Besides my Vox T25 bass combo, I've also got a Peavey TransTube 258 EFX combo, and a Line 6 Guitar POD 2.0. On Wednesday, my new Squier Bullet Special arrived, from Musician's Friend, and I've played it through all 3, as well as jamming a bit with my Squier Fat Telecaster, and Squier Affinity P-bass.

I hadn't played with the Peavey or Vox since January, as they've been in storage, along with my Fat Tele and P-bass, since January. It's almost like learning them as if I'd just bought them, having been away from them that long. What I've noticed, with my Bullet Special and Fat Tele is, the reverb on the Peavey sounds better on the clean channel, as opposed to the lead channel. I've definintely got some jamming ahead of me, to find out what works and what don't, between my Bullet Special, Fat Tele and my Ibanez AG75 through the Peavey.

In the coming future, I'm planning to add an Ampeg R212R Reverbrocket to my collection, unless somehow some way I can manage to afford to go for a Fender '65 Twin Reverb. I'd once test drove a Squier Bullet Special through a Fender '65 Twin Reverb, and I'd truly love to be able to duplicate that sound. As for that dream, at least I'm 1/2 way there, now. :)

I just got a Mesa Boogie Subway Rocket. They don't make them anymore, I don't know how old it is, but it doesnt seem that old. It's a 20 watt combo, with 2 channels, and a contour boost thing for the lead channel. All the ones I found on the net that look the same have the reverb, where mine has a presence knob, and the ones I found without the reverb differ in the other controls...
It beats the hell out of my old solidstate crate that I've been lugging around for the past 3 years.

Mesa boogie all the way, best amp I`ve tried. and now own.

I've never been a fan of Crate, but I was at Guitar Center the other day and a sales guy suggested I try out one of their new ones. He knows I'm partial to American products (I was trying out a Gibson at the time), so I was surprised to see "Made in USA" on the plate on the back. It was a Crate Palomino V32. All tube class A with cream colored tolex and gold hardware. 1x12 combo. You guys gotta check this amp out. Don't dismiss it for being a "Crate" like I almost did. It's got amazing tone, clean and overdriven. Two channels, foot switch for channel and boost. Spring reverb. It looks to be very well built. Only thing is, it seems to run a little hot. Can't be good for the tubes. I'm thinkin' about puttin' a fan on the back. I ended up buyin' it.

All my guitars, basses and amps are at home, now...WOO HOO! I plugged my new Bullet Special into my POD, and as I was fiddling with presets and manual stuff, I ended up creating yet another instrumental song. In that, now I have a "better excuse" to want an EB3 bass. I'm playing a "slap bass" line, on the top string, while finger pickin' on the bottom 4 strings, so I'm gonna want something that can put out some thump behind the finger pickin' guitar bass line. :)

I used to have a knackered and huge Marshall cab and head which I had to sell due to space issues... box room while a student. I now have a Laney Linebacker 100.

... Seeing it written down gives me an overwhelming urge to jump off something high... :(

I have a Budda SD30 Head Series I
Trace Elliott Velocette 15watttubeamp
Champ clone head.
Supro Tube amp from the 60's
Vox Brian May

That's it for now. I really want a Fender Deluxe Reverb type amp. That should hold me for awhile

I suppose I'll vote Fender, because that is the only amp I have (Princeton Chorus).

But as soon as I can, I will get a Strawberry Blonde. Sweetest sounding acoustic amp I have ever heard.

line 6 ( which should have been a poll choice...) Flex III and Vetta. Both 2 12 combos.

the vetta is the far superior amp, but I am partial to my flex. Both are awesome amps. The vetta has more power, and some nice low end on clean sounds, but the flex was my first, and I really like the sounds that come with it. I dont think Ill ever get rid of the flex III. shortboards, Of course for both...

I've liked Fender amps so far

Peavey amps are kind of so-so at best, it'll do in a pinch if there's nothing better to use.

I have used Fender amps since I the day I could afford a real amp. Never looked back, but would love an AC30 or a Matchless as well.

Fender Amps

ohhhh..... give me a tone-master or a vibro-king any day of the week. Damn I hate circuit board based amps. Hell I'll use an amp modeler before I blow money on a crappy amp.

I disagree, the Peavy 5150 is a pretty good amp for metal.

Peavey?

Hey Kelly what Peavey do you use? Cause I'm fairly sure that the soldanos they ripped off sound better. j/k But really what peavey do you use? Have you Tried a VHT for high gain?

I agree with that. I sold my 5150 early last year.

It's got high gain for days, just didn't like the so called clean channel.

Just my 2cents worth though..

In the '70s I had a HiWatt 100 w/2 custom built 4x12 cabs (the speaker covers were RED fabric with the label "DEATH" mounted in the middle)--I would kill any three of you to have that one back... :p

My current bass rig is an Acoustic 370 with an Ampeg "Iso-Vent" cab (neat design made for only two years). I've been in love with the 370 since the first time I ever heard one in my high school days, at one time had the whole rig, 370 w/2 301 folded horns--GAWD, what a bottom!!

My 370 is slowly reaching critical mass, the power transistors can't keep up. But the clean punchy bottom is so close to the sexual experience that I often have to check for stains... I will always own one...

Hey, didn't Harvey Gerst have somethin' to do with designing Acoustics?

Eric

Most are good in their own way. I've played a few really horrible amps. Guess it depends on what your looking for in sound. My favourite amp at the moment would have to be 'Traynor'. I really get some nice tones out of the amp. Second choice would be any Fender amp. Tube amps of course !! :D Myspace
