If I could change my vote, I would now change it to ORANGE! Just picked up an AD30TC on Saturday, and I can't put my freaking guitar down. This thing's dynamic sensitivity is absolutely unbelieveable. Such a nice crunch too! This thing is practically the definition of the british sound.

if you ask me, the cheap Marshall amps are pretty underrated. You have to tune them and your equipment to get the perfect sound. It took me proboly a week to get a good sound on my MG30CDR. With my ibanez, I think I get a really good sound, the overdrive channel is poor, but the clean is outstanding, i hear on reviews nothing but the clean being superb, I love it, havnt found better. And bass/guitar amp, SWR Is great! my 12" practice amp is great, high quality amp for the cost of a few hundred dollars (highly recommended). Really all I need to do is mic small amps, ive seen few bands do this for large venues (only one band comes to mind).
overall, I love SWR the most.

Howdy, all- new here, but not new in music....
I saw one post saying they thought Rivera sucks, and I HAD to respond! Riveras can be tricky to dial in at first, but they are designed to do what YOU want them to do instead of just being a Marshall or just being a Fender. I've had some cool amps over the years- Fender, Peavey, Ampeg, Marshall, Mesa Boogie, and a few others not worth mentioning by either name or their sound, and I got tired of having to get a different amp if my playing style/taste happened to change, so I now have a Mesa Boogie TriAxis preamp running into an older Rivera TBR-3 for stereo power into 2 4x12 Horizon cabinets. (amongst other toys in a 12 space rack) I also have a TBR-1 (WAY old- before the M and SL designations) which can stand alone in case I do something stupid to my regular rack or just don't feel like moving it....With some knob twisting and a little time, I can get ANY sound I want out of the stuff! So now I can grow older and switch from whatever I'm playing one day to metal/fusion to rock and even country or big band the next day if I should ever get the wild hair- without expensive gear replacement therapy.
I didn't vote- I think I rely on the Rivera for most of the 'sound' and the TriAxis for the 'tone', if ya know what I mean....or if I know what I mean....LOL

I'm a guitar gear slut...I picked up a B-52 AT-100 recently. I have to say that this thing is a real value right now. I get the urge to bang my head from time to time and this thing is just the ticket and well, the price is what really sold me on it. The clean channel...is crystal clear even when cranked up to max. It's a bargain for the guy who wants a Mesa Triple but can't afford it yet.

I just need some intervention here...the collection is getting way out of hand. I keep telling my wife that I'm going to open a music store some day :o

I'm pretty happy with my Fender Blues Jr. It came with a Celestion Vintage 30 inside so it tends to be a little bright sounding. Picked up one of the stock original Fender/Eminence speakers on eBay a while ago but haven't swapped them out yet.

Damn I am amazed at how few voted for mesa...
They're #3 of the top 3 brands. Makes sense to me.

Now what I want is all 3 amps to record with. :)

I suppose you are correct. I think engl is worth mention, and krank is upcoming as well...

Srry, FENDER IS NO FOR ME, its all about marshall, with that Gibson SG, and that NICE clean marshall CRUNCH. good stuff right there.

You should look into weber custom ceramics...

The Fender Hotrod deluxe is the second amp I own so I don't have much to compaire with but I can tell you this it has the clean channel is awsome (it has turned me into a tube only purist) and the distortion is okay for anything not too heavy.

I have a 100 watt Marshal stack that I never use that has a pretty cool sounding bass boost. But, my fave is the Fender Cybertwin.Clean or dirty it's the most versitile amp I've ever heard.Period.

I suppose you're right-I should have voted for Mesa since it's the best of the choices available IMO....and since Rivera wasn't listed and I use a combo of the two....my vote is now included in the Mesa numbers!

I'd agree here perhaps too- I'm a tube guy all the way, but when I don't feel like standing up to play with my big rig I use a Marshall MG10CD in the living room. These little suckers sound great when plugged into a PA or larger power set up, too!

This thread keeps on going and going...I've been playing through a Peavey 5150 that I bought the first year they came out (block EVH not the signature). It has been a road warrior since then with the only services being three tube changes in the last 13yrs. Not bad for a live rig that gets abused. The best clean amp I ever heard was a Fender Capricorn (circa late 60's early 70's). Solid state with three 12" JBL's in it. You can't find anything on these amps anymore. The best new clean amp I've heard is this years Fender '59 Bassman. Crystal clear...

Peaveys & Fenders are my favorite amps. I own one of each, although if given the chance, there's about 3 different fender amps I'd definately like to own before I die. ;)

I might have posted this already but what the heck...the B-52 AT-100's are worth a look. Their prices are way low for what you get. As I understand it, they're a new comer on the block so they're still competative.

Huge gain, triple mode rectifier, reverb, effects loop, 2 channels with seperate controls and I can tell you first hand, the clean is CLEAN even when cranked way up. I get some believable Mesa Boogie sounds out of it (I know...cuz I got one ;) ).

I'm not trying to pitch the product for personal gain, I'm just saying it's worth a look for someone on a budget looking for a heavy rock head. I picked one up a while back...I simply couldn't walk away for the price but then again, I'm a gear slut :p .

Well if it's a budget you are on.. :P The crate power block is worth a look as well. I recently picked one up to use as back up for live sets, and was amazed with the CLEAN power. It has drive control but its not really overdrive, so I have to run my pod or other D effect through it. I tell you though it has nice bottom end and clean punchy power. It is 150W X1 or 75WX2. Excellent for backup or budget power solution. \m/
