Dean Guitars / Armadillo files for bankruptcy

First it was G&L/BBE sound closing up shop. Now another prominent company has filed for bankruptcy.

Armadillo Enterprises, parent company of Dean Guitars, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, following a turbulent few years for the company. This not as severe as G&L's Chapter 7 filing, which is a total dissolution of the company. Chapter 11 is a filing for reorganization. However, they list $1-10 million in assets, and liabilities of up to $50 million. That's a pretty steep mountain to climb.

Armadillo isn't just Dean guitars. They also have Luna guitars, and DDrum. Luna makes acoustic guitars, ukeleles, mandolins, banjos etc. Besides normal drums, Ddrum also makes electronic drums and modules, and amps/speakers for PA use.
 
It all comes crashing down now, but a new day will dawn.

They ran the business poorly - it’s expected by me - as most companies seem to run on luck - and really I doubt they have $50 million even if every company under them was driven into the ground - I think they are over-exaggerating to come out of Chapter 11 cleanly.
 
How can you not buy a G&L Telecaster ASAT for around $320? Its a steal. That Reclamation program is making them sell cheap.

You mean you found a G&L Telecaster for $320? Or are you saying that they are going for $320? If the latter they haven’t decended in value around here - least expensive is the Import version and goes for around $600 - if the Former congratulations you got an amazing guitar and deal.
 
The imports. They come out of Tennessee. It was $400 with case. They aren't in Guitar Center stores anymore, like ebay and Reverb, from this reclamation act. Probably some now.

people always tell me how they cannot tell the difference. Import vs. Domestic. What do I get for my extra $1500 for that Domestic in USA brand. Let me say the money is well spent. Not that the workmanship in the Indonesia set is poor. Not really. But it does have its defiecencies. Let the Beak ' show you what I mean..

Always get the USA if you want a quality instrument that will last your lifetime.
