Hi,

Are digital guitar amp simulators anything like the real thing?
Normally I would try it but it costs like 500 euros ;)

I'm especially talking about PUNK/METAL and other high-gain applications.

Any experience?

Thx ;)

I have tried Guitar Rig 2 and I didn't like it, and I don't like the Line 6 modeling stuff either. I used to, but then I started getting into tube amps and then I recorded a tube amp one day and I never turned back to those simulators. The organic and realistic tone of a real amp is hard to replicate. Even with a solid state amp, you still have the speaker and that still changes the whole sound.

Is there really a need to make YOUR amp sound like another one? Why would anyone WANT to? You're not happy with your own rig? Just play the damned thing. A SIMulator is not going to make you a better Musician.
