Toy Test Update..........
I wish I had a mic splitter, but I don't. And I wish I had decent VO talent, but I don't - only my voice tonight. And that doesn't really make the cut....
So it's REALLY not a scientific test, but the putting the ACMP73's up against one of my API512B's, I have to say that i'm impressed. Again, my impressions are not scientific in any way, but the ACMP73's don't suck compared to the API's when being driven by a pair of ACM1200's. Different, but good.
The pair of 1200's that I have feeding the pre's definately aren't matched, so switching the mic's against the 73/512B combo doesn't really tell me anything other than both mics (1200's) and both pre's - 512B OR ACMP73 - sound good.
I know you guys are craving a better test, but until I have some good sources to record later this week or next, that's the best I can do.
I will go on record as saying the pre's are decent - good even. Maybe even very good.

It will be interesting to hear them up against a real 73/84. I know some of you guys have access to the real deal. Unfortunately, I don't tonight or any time in the near future......
I'm looking forward to putting the mics and pre's thru their paces in the near future with some great source material - unfortunately I just don't have that opportunity tonight - but soon.
Enjoying the new gear Chance.
OH, BTW - for those with Ribbons - one of my ACM2's came out of phase. You might want to check yours. All the other Fig8 mics i received - ACM3's, ACM4's, ACM200 and the other ACM2 I got were all perfect.
PS - I'm digging the ACMP LED lit switches. Really cool.
EQ is sounding cool, but I really don't have enough time with it yet to have any decent thoughts....
