Same here...

I think white was the one color I was hoping against. lol. My luck, No matter.

White just gets banged up so quickly no matter how careful you are around it. I suppose I was hoping for gunmetal grey....oh well.

Still buying two of them.

Question to anyone who has used these types of ribbon mics.

1. Would the new mics that have phantom power need less gain from the preamp?

2. Does the tube w/separate power supply help the ACM-900 need less gain also?

I have a Joemeek threeQ. The preamp gain knob goes to 60dB and the output gain goes to +16dB.

Does anyone know if this would drive these ribbons for up close vocal work?

Thanks!

Earl

Agreed, though it wont matter what it looks like, I'm sure it still sounds amazing!

Yea... not like I'm gonna lose any sleep over it. I know a number of people were hoping for white. Ya can't make everyone happy. I'll just cry if out later than bury it deep inside and be fine. :p (works for the wife  )

mm.
The colour is not set in stone. The face plates are brushed aluminum. They seem only to have anodised blue which looks too much like the old MXR gear. The choices are clear (brushed aluminum), MXR blue, or a painted colour. My thoughts were a signature colour, but I really don't care (except for pink) My thoughts are contrast (lettering/back colour for easy referencing of settings) and a white BG with black CG would be easy on the eyes. True they will be like a piece of furnature in the CR, but they will also be tools. My Makita grinder is blue (not pink) and my hammer, screw drivers doesn't matter. the lathe, drill press, and bridgeport are industrial grey (not pink LOL)
Whateverworks (?) for the majority will work for me, but I want to get things going ASAP

Being from North Carolina, we eat, sleep and breathe, NASCAR racing... While watching a race someone will see a car on the track with an ugly paint scheme and say, "I wouldn't drive that thing if they paid me!"... Well, my response always and still is: "I wouldn't care if they painted it pink, put Playtex Tampon decals down the sides and made me drag a big cotton rope from the rear bumper, I'd drive it for FREE!"

Same with these preamps... If they sound as good as I think they will, I don't care if they are pink with brown polka dots and yellow knobs!

I'm fine with any color but I really hate the brushed alluminum look. The cheaper Focusrite line has that and it's hard as hell to read anything on it because it catches way too much light.

And Chance is right about contrast. It's a real pain in the ass when you can't see gear settings easily. Besides, no rational person is going to make a decision on whether to buy a piece of gear based on what color it is. Let's not let the color of the faceplate slow this process down. It's going to be a long enough wait as it is. I say let Chance pick whatever color he wants since he's the one doing all the work on this. Let's just leave this one up to him since it isn't going to affect anything meaningful.

Would someone knowledgable please chime in on this for me...

With the eq disengaged on both, will the 73 and the 84 sound identical?

The pres are supposed to be identical outside of the EQ's, DI and meters.

Thanks. I thought that must be the case but I'm tired of getting burned when I "assume" things (ass-you-me... yeah I saw that episode of the Odd Couple too).

Hi Guys! First post here. Saw something on GS and followed it over. 126 pages!!!!!!! Yikes!

So, I've got some reading to do, pronto it seems. Can anyone direct me to the GENERAL vicinity of where pricing (even if rough estimates) is discussed? That would be much appreciated. 126 pages is gonna take awhile. :D:D

Looking forward to signing up.
