Kay. Generally I overdo the photoshop filters because my camera sucks, and it takes a lot of editing to get pictures to look good when the camera's as bad as mine.

Ok... You've got a good start. But IMO your shit isn't as good as his. Mainly I think your use of filters makes your stuff look "photoshoped" and not in a good way. Second, his understanding and use of typography is significantly better than yours. And if you ask your mom I'm sure she'll tell you that understanding Type is a VERY important part of being a good designer. Your script font is too hard to read in za2.gif and your kerning and leading are awkard in za1.gif. Not to bust your balls but I thought everything else kinda... wasn't the best with the exception of the last one. It was alright.

Don't take this the wrong way though. For 17 your shit is pretty good. But if you're gonna be a critic you better be able to take it... ;)
 
I have to say I think they look good. I like Zac's too, they're both good.

The graveyard one was really well done.

Like I said, I did have to super-downsize everything. Actually, I posted za1 by accident... my girlfriend did that one. Oops! Sorry.

not a pissing match. I'm a photographer, not a designer. I think I'm alright at design but by far not good enough to do it for a living. Just a friendly critique. No ill will towards anyone. I've had proffessors that would have ripped both of them a new asshole. Not my style of critiquing though.:)
 
Wow, looks like we got a competition here.

I would like to point out the technical skill here provided by the OP. I think its way more technical than the 17 year old in my opinion. Providing, I don't like the style but that doesn't mean it isn't good work.

As for the 17 year old: yea, a lot of filters.. I don't like that style either but I think its lacking a little substance..

Don't bash people because you don't like the style. Both of you have very different styles..
