No offense mate, but those samples wouldn't want to make me use you as a designer.
...Then again, I've been doing graphic design since I could use a computer.
...Yes, I am only seventeen, but I happen to have been trained by one of the best.

So let's see all your shit that is so much better...

btw... being 17 makes you think you know a whole lot more about things than you really do. I've taken courses in graphic design in one of the best graphic programs in the world so I have a little background in this. I can tell you that his stuff while not at the forefront of modern design is decent especially for the price he's asking. so be kind to your recording brothers...

Many 17 year olds

seem to think they know more about everything than anyone else.

Lets see, if you are 17 and you have been doing design since you first used a computer, that would give you about 5 years experience. Lets be honest though, at 12 years old you were just discovering puberty and probably didn't think much about graphic design. So lets bump it up to 14. That's gives you somewhere between 2 and 3 years experience. But you probably needed some time to actually learn the fundamentals of design, so lets knock off a year there. That's leaves you with about 2 years of experience. Seeing as you can't legally work until you are 16 in most states. That leaves you with almost a year and a half or so.

So basically what you are saying is. You are a rude little know it all with absolutely no experience in graphic design. You also didn't mention any schooling. I don't know about you but I went to school for 4 years and have been working for 5 in the field. How many years have you gone to school for design? Something tells me you got a pirated version of photoshop, and someone you know taught you a few things. That hardly qualifies you to comment on other peoples skills.

I wonder, what do you know about printing separations or pagination? What is the standard bleed size asked for by commercial printers?

oh shit.... bringing out pagination :D

Sorry for the hijack. Buy this guys shit. He's poor and probbably will do a better job than you could do youself. (unless you're me... haha *cough*)

you dont know what the 17 year old can do. Let him post his work. Just cause he may have a pirated version of the program or whateva......thats like saying a young 17 year old producer cant put out a hit beat/song which we all know is very possible. He just stated his opinion bout dudes graphics. Some of them were kinda hot some of them were not at the same time. So do not criticize.

Why shouldn't I criticize, he criticized the OP? He should be able to eat what he dishes out, no?

Okay, make it six or seven for using a computer, so I was familiar with Illustator, Photoshop, GoLive, etc. by ten-ish. Add in having a graphic design genius for a mother who's done award-winning work for billion-dollar firms. I haven't done a lot of commercial stuff besides a couple of CD covers and a package for an indie film, and I'm not saying I'm the greatest designer on earth, just that the OP's samples were nothing special.

D'you think going to school can teach good design? That's like saying going to Full Sail makes one a world-class engineer. I don't steal software, btw. Not cool with that.

...Maybe you didn't notice, but the original poster's only 19... so that makes him a graphic design genius because he's two years older than me?
I haven't taken courses in one of the best graphic programs in the world, but I have been exploring Adobe programs since I was about seven, learning from a designer for Alex Brown, BT, and Deutsche Banc.

Pirated? 'Scuse me! I'll download all the illegal music I want, but I don't steal software!

I didn't give you any reps

I'm not sure I've even given anybody a rep before. I don't think the the OP is a genius or even a great designer, but I do take issue with your jumping on him like a hyena. I don't care who your mother is and I don;t believe for a second that you were using design programs at age 7. I have a 5 year old daughter and I know what young kids are capable of, I also know what they're interested in, and designing products using cumbersome design software isn't one of them. You are bloating your personal story to defend your piss poor attack on the OP after you got served some of your own negativity.

My mom is the greatest designer ever, and I am a child genius that played with Bezier curves instead of with power rangers. Oh yeah plus I took a few design classes at what I claim is the most prestigious design school on planet earth.

Listen to yourself. Check your ego at the door please.

I didn't say you gave me the red, I don't know who it was; not anyone who posted in this thread, I think. I didn't jump on the original poster like a hyena, I just commented on the samples.... I have two younger brothers, and I know what kids are capable of too. I'm not saying I was all up on designing for people, just that I was becoming familiar with the programs. I thought they were just fun things to play with.
...I never said that, just that I learned from someone who's been in the business for 15 years. Actually, I did play with Power Rangers. And I've never taken any design classes at any school.

I'm trying to get my external HD to work so I can post some samples, but it won't... but here's some stuff that I emailed to someone, it was in my sent folder....
Stickers for the film, random stuff, some CD art.
Note: all images super-low res so I can upload quickly-ish.

Not bad

Sometimes a good photograph and a line of text is the best album cover money can buy. It isn't always necessary to fancy everything up with photoshop filters. Just as an aside.
