I have heard lots of great things about the model 101, but haven't heard much about the Front End One by Drawmer.
Which would you prefer? I'll probably be using either one to track bass & vox, or maybe guitsr amps. Wouln't it be good to get the comp/lim, eq, and de-esser with the MX60? Or is the Model 101 that much better as a preamp? One of the ads I read said that the MX60 uses the same preamp as the 1960; that's good, right?
Would either of these make my sterile digital recordings warmer?

Let me know what you think, or about any other options in this price range: 500$ - 700$

Thank You

Ummm, RNMP in 3 weeks? :)
Fletcher thinks the preamp in the Drawmer sounds like a sponge, so I dunno. I like the Presonus MP20 as a cheap class A stereo alternative, and the box with the EQ and compressor is supposedly decent as well... both are the same price around $500... they can be equipped with Burr Brown op-amps, too, for a darker sound.

I've heard some of the meek stuff, not bad, but not hugely detailed either... I've heard the Presonus, and the MP20 would make for a great overhead pair, the rest of those I havent really heard. Again, wait a minute or two and see what happens with this RNMP. Just a few more weeks... order something you can return, at least, til word on the RNMP comes out.
