ok just built the allenstein machine.first cpu i ever built so i 'm happy bout that. thanx to this website for the help.
Now my next hurdle is interface. I originally was leaning towards digi 002 . i thought this was the way to go because I originally learned on an HD system and from what i've been told my home projects done on the 002 could dump seemlessly into the higher end HD systems, should i ever want to bring my music to the pro studio.
However through research it seems that u can save pretty much everything to a wave file and then be able to insert your work into various programs and interfaces. Is this True? This hobby is on a budget however i don't wanna buy to much stuff twice, and i am the type who will spend a little extra if i need to.
With all that being said here are my priorities Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
1.Cost- i was planning on a digi002 so theres my range
2.Tracks - into hip hop and r&b so i guess i won't really need too many tracks, however i'm into the engineering aspect and would be nice to record a friend or twos band. a drum kit perhaps. i understand preamps are another issue all together.but wouldn't hurt to have more than eight ins if u think i can get them.
3. quality - don't wanna sacrafice quality to get more tracks still want the system to work well.
Thanx i hope someone can help me out
