Yo JUGALO what are you working with?
I'm was doing some stuff with some Sony cameras and Vegas Video... I kinda had my goals set too high as far as my time and my hard drive space. I only have 32gigs and it's in 3 partitions but the video shit'll eat up 15gigs easy as hell for some decent quality shots. I got a few new tricks wit Paint Shop, a nicer 4MP still shot camera, and cleared up some hard drive space so whle i'm in this beat slump I might get some stuff done.
I hope to do a couple underground music video type shits for some of my artists singles pretty soon. Gutter style ya know.... I was even working on a short movie but had to stop about 1/4 ways through the shit and get some hard drive space for a paying video job. I might crank it back up in a second though... My brother in law is doing bootleg Ebay flicks and claimshe has a lick on DVDRs so i'm thinking about flipping some shit to DVD's even. All dreams and shit but very obtainable dreams...

damn, i feel the same as you with the hard drive space issue. i have like 100gigs, but quality shit will eat you up. i did a lil practice video to get a feel of the program. a four minute file was like a gig. i had to render it to a smaller file size with fewer frames. i had to compress the hell out of it to send it to hi_d_ho_man.
i'm using a 4mp still cam myself. i only have one 64mb memory card in it so i can only do 60 sec. of footage at a time. i'm cuttin up a lot of clips from other videos to go with my songs right now, just to get in practice. i'm rendering in vegas also.
i understand what you mean about having your sites set too high, i don't really want to pick up another expensive and time consuming trade, so i'm just using the resources that i have to my full advantage. the real lick would be to shoot to film and not digital. digital is the stuff they shoot soap opera's with. film cameras can easily run you like 20k for a used one.
i'm going to continue a nice pace with this video thing. i know a couple of dudes that just started a late night show that hosts local and exclusive videos. they wanted me to help em out, but i don't want to commit to something like that yet. i'm trying to apply my main focus on my music.
this dude that i'm cool with runs his own mom and pop store. he's trying to make some major moves in the music business. right now he's hustling his ass off with burned dvd movies, car tv's, cd's, magazines(source, don diva), oils, amps, car stereos, premastering, cd duplication.......
he has a hook up on dvd's and cases right now. i could ask him how much he get's has stuff for and we could compare prices with your brother-in-law if you like.

Word time and money are best spent on the music but I can't help but wanna tie this shit in. I tried to invest in the equipment when I had the loot so I got 2 D8 cameras ( for multiple angles shit) fat ass batteries and lights and what not but I'm still missing the drive space, shooters, and the action to take advantage of the shit... For real though I can't skript the shit out and play director and stage crew while filming the shit and editing it... Then i'd still be producing the music... Mos def not when what I got really ain't even worth the editing ... Then I got no way to store the big ass files... I gotta render the shit str8 to DV for a ten minute full quality clip cuz my drive is shot with all the prerendering and original takes.
I got a partna that can do it all but his ass was supposed to have a porn site up and he still hasn't done that shit yet. He said he needs some more girls but I see his ass in the club... What the hell you doing then? That's why I don't think on taking him my ideas to him... Cuz got a loaded skinny neck MAC with DVD burner and another DV all though... Damn cats just wasting resources (inculuding myself)...
I didn't even get in deep about the DVDR talk... Just kinda figure they'll be there when I need em... Dude lives in Dallas so I plan to work on all that when i hit Texas. So that shit's kinda in the air....
PS- you can film meetings, recitals, churchs, and decent sized events like graduations or whatever and make some extra loot. Just do a intro, some fancy edits, a few stills, credits and all then tax em. Cheap video and believe it'slike the music... It's always something worse...

Cats finally getting the video bug again... I loan out my camera and cuz gonna loose my battery... I had a damn 900 minute battery on my shit so we could record all day without recharging. This cat gonna buy a 300 min battery to replace it... With the light that's maybe 2 tapes... Damn... Why they gotta be working against me?

yo, that's some crab in a bucket type of ish there lazi. i'll be trying to shoot some stuff out there in kuwait. i hope they have cats out there that want to get something done. just have to be creative with the backdrops and props. gotta avoid the desert look, but then again the desert might work out to my advantage. when i get back i might move to atlanta instead of florida. i think it's more opportunity there in music for me.
