Hey guys,

Here's a chill tune I've been working on called "Somebody Did". It's my first chance to run everything through my new Universal Audio 4-710d with my (newer) Neumann TLM103. I think I'm pretty happy with the results, but it's easy to over listen and miss some obvious things.

If you get a chance to check it out, I'm completely open to any feedback, criticism, or whatever you want to say about it.

Thanks!
Tait

there's some low mids in the voice i can't decide if i like or i wish were cut a little so the acoustic rhythm guitar could fill it. the acoustic is a little too bright for my taste.

sounds really good though overall.

there's some high shelf in the tamberine/shaker that i'm not too keen on.

the snare is a little scooped. there's a some highs on the snare that let it cut, but i think i would rather them go a little down, get some body out of it, and maybe bring it up a tad.

The double tracking was a nice idea, but I think would be more effective it wasn't through the whole track. Maybe bring it in as an effect a few times, like the intro. I find after a while it starts to grate a little.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

CELLO_PUDDING: Thanks for the notes. I pretty much dumped a ton of the low end on the guitar...it's pretty light too. I just wanted it to kind of support the tune and have the bass carry most of it. What do you mean about the high shelf on the tamb/shaker? it's got too much high end? Thanks...

COBALTAUDIO: Good point. I'll see if I can kill one of the doubles through the main verse. I barely every double vocal anymore, so I figured I'd give it another spin. Thanks for the listen.

The only thing that got me were the sibilence on the intro vocals and the shakers were a little washy/harsh.
So I leave that with you :-)
Excellent tune - I hate you because you own a 4-710d and I do not.!!!!
