Hey you price searchers!:)

Has anyone seen any really good prices on used U87's?

Just in the market and searching.

Thanks,
H2H

Hey H2H..............long time no see around here, how are things going?

U87 huh? How about I offer you an Apex 430......sounds almost better than a U87:D . Come to think of it seeing as you sold it to me I guess you wouldn't want it back anyways........lmao.

Be sure to also try the Beyer M88 sometime too.
Rather U87ish in tone and can rival/exceed the Neumann on some voices.

I have an M99. It costs £49 more than the M88 new :)

Unfortunately I can't post a sample :(

hey guys-

I tell you hard2hear, this place is the knee jerk cheap mic captal of the world! You ask for a decent price on a U87, and you get every mother's son trying to convince you to buy a CAD, ADK, Audio-Technica, SE, whatever. There's nothing wrong with a U87 except the list price. Get on ebay and accept that $1500 is the going price.-Richie

I have no problem with $1500 for a u87. I'm just wavering between used and new as to which I would really be happier with. I want to be sure before I drop the buck.:)

I think the biggest think about mics is that few of us actually get to use very many of them, and then have to base comparisons off of what we hear from other people. I'm in the sane boat. There are several mics which I have never heard but hear good or bad things about. The thing about the 87's (for me, at least) is that every studio I have done anything in in the nidwest or southeast has some of them. It lends a certian consistancy to things, even though there are variations to the different years and models of the mic itself.

I also think it's one of the very best investments a small studio can make. There is a short list of things that impresses any potential client, and it's on that list. Even when I started out years ago, I only considered paying studios who had the exact gear I wanted to use.

Anyhoo,
Thanks for the input,
H2H
