I am trying to record my music digitally. I have a triton rack and a sony cdr-w33. I got a non-directional optical cable and hooked it up to the in for the cd burner and plugged the other end into the s/p dif out on the rack. I can only get about -40 db max output. the setting is on 0.00db on the burner. Am i using the wrong port or cable?

You are working with two totally different digital formats, SPIDF and Optical.
I'm surprised that you got as far as you did in trying to force them together.

There may be an expensive, powered adapter out there somewhere, but are you sure that you want to record the output of the Triton and nothing else?
