I'm still working on the studio, sheetrock now up. I've got this crazy idea. I decided to keep an open room, but I want to build some gobos between the drums and other musicians. I know this won't be isolated. I'm hoping someone will direct me into the right materials for both of the gobos and walls behind drum area to get the best frequency responses. I'm not worried about in/out isolation. The walls are 1/2 drywall over r16, same with control room wall facing the drum area, this has a 28" door in it. I've done a crude drawing hope it helps. Thanks and Merry Christmas- Ralph

Not a crazy idea at all, though I built a flip-floor vocal booth so you know I'm truly insane :)

Though, attaching them to the ceiling might seem good, what happens if you want to move it to another location?

One option is to build them floor to ceiling, minus an inch or two, then have them on stands so you can angle them and move them in any position you want...

While you might leave things in one position 99% of the time, do know the second you screw it to the ceiling you'll need it in a different position for "just this one take". :-D

Murphy's law, and all that :)

Flip-Floor vocal booth lol did the singer kind of do a vertical 180 when not in use? Thanks for saying it's not totally crazy. This space in my studio will be for the live drums, Frederick...could you help me with the materials for these gobos, like what? Here's what I'm thinking...The bottom move around gobo would be a 4x6, 4" thick treated with the 2" 703 in the middle? 1/4" ply on each side? The swing down would be apprx 4x6 1" 703? Also both sides would need treated, the one side for drum frequencies and the other for instruments? or would both sides work the same? Okay now you can say it...this guy really is off a little haha. The upper left corner of the drawing would be like a bass absorber 45 in corner, with arulex 2x6 across wall each side? leaving ceiling untreated? Lots a questions, but you're the man with some answers. We need more pictures!!! Happy Holidays!
