Listen to the music I've recorded and give me feedback, hints, tips, tell me what im doing right, and tell me what Im doing wrong.

This is my equipment

I use a DMAN 2044 Midiman to record the drums.
I use a Yamaha Mixer .. well .. as a preamp I guess.

I use 6 Nady microphones and 2 Shure microphones.

My editing software is Adobe Audition.

I listened to a few recordings...first one being Make Yourself. Try moving the mic closer to the fret board more...you're capturing quite a bit of low sounds. try backing the mic off a bit too. too much reverb on the vocals for my tastes too. it sits too far away from the guitar.
Next song: Bleed In silence. Better overall guitar sound, but it sounds like you're clipping a lot. Sounds like it might be the bass drum. Vocals could be more in the middle and i would like to hear more of them.
Last one: Blood for oil. Best one of the three. Bring the vocals more towards the front again. Hard to make out what they are sounding. Also, probably too much reverb again. But this time it sounds as if the reverb was coming from the natural reverb of the room. Where did you record this? I like the guitars again though. Nice job.

thanx for replying

I recorded this in my living room :D
I know they're not great, but I'm starting off and I don't have any outboard gear :(
As for the Make Yourself, yea .. TOO much reverb, but for the guitar there wasn't really much I could do due to the fact the strings of that guitar were...well let's just say OLD

thanx again on those comments, and I'd like to ask what outboard gear is really necessary up to this point?

Hey, ace.

I just listened to Make Yourself, since I'm a big Incubus fan. I agree that the guitar sounded bass-heavy, but I really dug the vocal sound. You really seemed to get it close to sounding like the vocal sound on the original. Very impressive - what sort of processing did you do to get it like that? Also, overall an impressive vocal performance, btw. He's a tough singer to cover - kudos!

:)

hehe, yea the guitar sounds like crap

I used ... well I can't remember TOO good, but I'm pretty sure I used a dirtyplate or darkdrumplate reverb, one of those too for vocals, and also VocalLimit, -26thresh, +16dB under dynamics processing using Adobe Audition.
