I really love the guitar build up. It is crisp and forward in the mix, without muddying up your vocals....and your vox are right on!!

I like the sound of the snare, but I think that is just a personal preference.

I am wanting to hear a bass, along with the full version!!!

It's sounding good! Just a couple of thoughts that jumped out at me:

It almost (but not quite) feels like the intro guitar goes on twice as long as it needs to. It goes through the riff twice and then my mind just keeps thinking "ok, here's where I start singing" :D. But then the riff plays twice more. It doesn't sound bad or wrong having it go 4 times, it's just that I was expecting the vocals to come in earlier.

When the electrics come in stronger, it still sounds like your vocals are just a tiny bit too far back in the mix. I didn't say the electrics are too far forward...they come up to a good level of build from the first part of the song. The vocals just need to come up a little bit more.

Hey, I think you have the song already playing very well. I did notice that there are a couple of hihat hits missing when drums start with guitars... and a bit futher it happens again. Sorry I should´ve written before, but it is the first time I enter to this thread. :)

I listened to the acustical performance that your initial post linked to. I haven't read through the entire thread so I don't know if you have added any instrumentation or overdubbed anything since then.
( I saw something about a high hat in the post before my post, so, I guess you have)
I like the acoustical bare bones arrangement.

really cool song and great performance man.

I think there are some minor flaws...like the mic picking up sounds of you breathing and moving around during the performance... and in a couple of places it sounded like the low notes were almost out of your vocal range.

But.....
I think that the performance and recording sound really good and the slight imperfections I speak of do not distract.
I would leave it just like it is.....it's kick ass.

Another updated mix: Tweaked guitars a little bit... still debating if the volume is quite right... some spatial tweaks here and there...

I listened on my headphones, then on the monitors.

The guitars are eating up your vocals JaZz and that is not a good thing.

Sometimes the tweaking can just go on and on, and the nitpicking (your own) of your craft, can reach the point of robbing the original magic it possessed in the beginning. I think you have a magic JaZz, as I have said upteen times before. Such a kind of magic, that perfection will never be a necessity in your tunes. The performance you put forth is absolutely powerful in itself.

If I were to have a say so in the matter, I would send you back to the mix,the best by far of all of them. (post #198) where your guitars were crispy, without stepping on your vocals, and your vocal performance is full of that passion you sing with....damn, that one gives me goosebumps!!!.....add your bass....and full length it of course!! There is a simplicity of complexity in your gift, and that makes it Unique. Just my heart, hearing the magic in all it's goosebumps! :D

TRUE :)

I actually don't have a bass in my posession at the moment.
Does anyone want to put down a bass track to this?

Let me know if you can!

I'm sure real bassists would chime in soon. But if you want sequenced bass such as can be heard on my tracks, I'd be glad to have fun doing this. Just name the chords and tempo and sit back to recieve the amateurishly done contribution. :)

Of course, if your drums aren't machined, staying in time would be impossible for a sequenced bass edit: unless a click track was used that the drummer stayed close to. :)

I'll have my bass rig out tomorrow night, so I can throw down something if you'd like! Do you have the full song that I could work with? If not, I'll still record it just for the clip...I wanna hear how it sounds with bass :)

The drums are just 'placeholders', if you will.

I dont have the full song yet, but feel free to do it over the clip and send me the track.
I have been working on the entire songs arrangement/production, and it is coming along quite well, I think. :)
I will have the full one by next week! I promise!

Once I get the whole song done and drop a bass track in there, it will be ready for drums.

If anyone can help in that department, let me know and I will send you the appropriate tracks when the above process is complete.

One more section added at the end... this will go after the 2nd chorus, not the first one, as played in this take.

Funny this is... I was playing along improv and realized I was recording the track. It ended up being ok, altho it sounds kinda thin in some spots.
