looking at an argosy desk for my SC ghost.anyone own a argosy?how's the build quality of the argosy?the jack for my headphones is in the front under the arm rest.i don't believe this jack is accessable through the front of the argosy arm rest.how do some of you deal with this, being that the ghost head phone jack disconnects the sends to the control rm monitors when anything is inserted in the headphone jack.so simply plugging a trs cable to a patchbay will not solve the problem.

That headphone jack is a bitch. I finally tripped over the chord and yanked out the jack so it's no longer an issue :D

The best way to setup the monitoring is to use the Studio A or B outs and feed a headphone amp. I think I have Studio A hooked up to the main monitors and B to the headphone amp.

The Argosy stuff is great but I built a console. I couldn't stomach paying as much for the console as I did for the mixer.

Big ups to the Argosy stuff. Had a Ghost in an Argosy with no complaints.

Headphone jack?!? :D

thanx tex,i'm probably gonna have to open up the ghost and relocate the headphone jack to the rack somewhere.i really don't want to lose the mono check for the crm o/p.and also like that my monitors get diconnected automatically.because i don't exactly have great isolation between my control rm and live room.what type of gear do you guy's mount in the argosy racks?are there any restrictions in what type of gear can be mounted face up eg.tube gear,hd 24,masterlink etc.

For headphone mixes I would use an aux send (or a stereo pair of them). As far as the jack goes concerning an argosy console, how about driling a hole in the front to expose the headphone jack? Or run an extension cable from the headphone jack before you put the console in place. There really are a lot of options if you think carefully about it. I would not let that be the only thing that talked me out of an Argosy desk:)

very true quite a few work arounds.just how useable are there surface mounted rack spaces?are they pretty much designed for patchbay's?

We used to keep a couple bays, and the more "need to hear" stuff in there - A couple compressors, main verbs, etc.

I have the very first prototype Argosy enclosure forthe Ghost. You can see a picture of it on my site.

I never use the headphone jack, I actually opened the board and hard wired around it. When that jack gets dirty or worn, it interupts the signal to the monitors. It is also a pain to open the back of the board becaus the jack only has about 8 inches of slack.

The rack has mainly patchbays, Furmans, my Motu, etc...
