Hi all,

I orrowed some Genelec 1030A monitors from a friend this weekend to do some mixing of my band. I previously mixed them on my hifi, so I really needed them.

But when I listen to my mixes on my hifi, I have seemed to have missed all the Mid range on my guitars? My drums sound way better than when I mixed on my hifi but my guitars really sound pretty crappy suddenly. Is that because the genelecs? Are they too flattering in the mid range? Or is it just my hifi?

Or could it be the room I mixed in?

Anyone else some experience with the genelecs?

I have the same monitors. Listen to professional recordings and your old mixes through them so you can have a frame of reference. Ive never had a problem with them except that the bass response is weak.

Genelecs are known to be some of the most flattering monitors of all time. Very good, but also very flattering, which means that it's just going to take a while to learn them. I've never personally used ganelecs, but I've heard numerous others complain of similar problems.
