OKAY.. this is what happened.. i was initially getting a garbled sound during play back of my tracks.. and I decided that I would uninstall cubase LE 4.. and reinstall to see if the issues were my computer possibly... so I now reinstalled cubase onto my computer.. now when playing .. the sound is even far worse.. Garbaled sound/distorted and the latency is outragous.. it wasnt doing this before.. when you pull up the VST performance meter.. The ASIO meter is to the fullest .. and for some reason also each time I try to reset the ASIO setting's to get it working it eats up my computer usage 90-100% .. and I have 2 gig's Ram.. I have tried almost everything that I know of.. has anyone else has these issues.. or any solutions possibly!!!!!!!!!!

What ASIO driver are you using?

Try googling ASIO4ALL and testing with that if it's not what you are using already.

And maybe you have something else running that is eating up CPU Cycles. Perhaps an antivirus or something (any Norton/Symantec products maybe)?

This garbled sound of which you speak, Does it maybe sound like a modulation effect with the tracks out of sync? i have that problem also i use the asio for mLan though usually a fresh restart will cure it, i would also suggest looking into asio4all it can be found on sweetwater.com in expertcenter pretty easily it seemed to be pretty solid as far as asio drivers go (i used to be able to use that with my old alesis deck) good luck keep us posted

Yea I tried ASIO4all.. not sure how to configure it with my system to get it working correctly...? anyone as any starting point settings they use for it?
LambA ASIO is what im currently using.. it was working perfectl fine before and then all of a sudden.. the mayham began!

did you change anything? (software, hardware, settings, breakfast routine, etc..)

Also.. what kind of hardware, interface, instruments you using? What's the signal path look like?

Hardware..

Lexicon LambA
HP laptop dual core 2.6mhz 2gig Ram
Cubase LE4

I kinda narrowed my problem.. but still I am not exactly sure.. I downloaded ASIO4ALL which is working okay for the moment.. but certain track with tons of VST pluggins is causing the ASIO meter to overload.. when I disable some pluggins.. tracks play fine... but what I dont get is that .. I had all the pluggins before and everything was playing just fine what happened to make my playbacks have distored/garbled sound?

Sooo.. for anyone else who may be having this problem,,, this is my short cut solution...
when you begin your project.. only add the vst pluggins to tracks that you certainly will need during recording.. try to worry about adding the pluggins after all your vocal/instruments recording are done.. then prior to mix down.. add your vst pluggins... quick note: also to save CPU usage.. instead of recording tons of tracks for possibly adlibs (I do hip hop).. just combine those tracks using **export audio mixdown, back into project** without the effects,, because they can be added back in later... this will save you tons of CPU usage, keep your vst pluggins at a minimum.. and keep your recording system stable.. You will still have to tweak the buffer settings on your ASIO4ALL to get a nice median so your tracks play back smooth without distortion/garbled sounds... its a serious tweak doing all those things just to get good sound.. but hey ,, if your like me ,, then its well worth it!!!!
