I try but it shows...
Yeah, I dig futures, and then sometimes I don't. I AM a HUGE Jimmy Eat World fanatic. I love to hear that VoxAC30 just screams in a lot of the futures songs. The album undoubtedly has great tone...
I prefer thier live music however, when it comes to style. All that studio mumbo jumbo is rather uninteresting to me. I prefer a pure unadulterated guitar sound. I listened to a live recordging of some of the futures tracks months before the album was released. I really dug the raw, rythmic stylings - and then in the studio the rythm came from delays and such. I have a collection of Jimmy Eat world live tracks that I love SO much more than thier album riding counterparts.
I think thier Live show is where the band's strength really comes out. The delays are there, but without so many tracks to work with everything comes out simpler and more pure. If you dig the JEW - you seriously need to check out thier DVD - "Believe in what you want" - it'll rock your socks off!!
I wish they would have shot some DVD footage at thier last concert in fall 2004 that I went to. The sound was great. The rock was hard. The energy was flowing between the band and the audience. By far the best rock show I'd ever been to. You could feel the love through the rock.
