not my favorite writing but the huge punchy guitar sounds of 'futures' by jimmy eat world just blow my mind... seriously, so huge it's incredible. If you haven't listened, you need to.

most of the clients I get may not love their style, but everyone loves that sound. serves as a great A/B to make your guitars as weak as the kid with 3" glasses and more alergies than you can count.

I was really looking forward to that album but was really let down.

I usually listen to music when I am driving, that album isn't very good driving music. :(

But, yeah, their tone is great. They have lots of layers of other things as well. Pretty damn creative most of the time, but they just don't have as many "rocking" songs as I would have liked.

Oh well... theres always the new Deftones album coming out soon-ish. :D

yeah, the album wasn't very good except for a couple lil' spots... but the tone! ahh such tone.

I would have to agree. I actually listen to that album when i study... good study album... not what I expected. The guitar sound is huge however, and I was very impressed. When I saw them live, that sound was not there.

Have to step in...:)

I want to stand up for the album Futures. Not I have matched it, no-where close, but Jimmy Eat World CLARITY and BLEED AMERICA were my bibles for what I wanted my music to sound and feel like. I think Futures is an answer to my prayers that they would do more moody palm muty emo rock like track 8 etc on Bleed American. I like it when they experiment with atmospheric sounds and delays but keep their chugging punk bred guitar attitude. Even without Mark Trombino producing them, Futures is a GEM!

I try but it shows...

Yeah, I dig futures, and then sometimes I don't. I AM a HUGE Jimmy Eat World fanatic. I love to hear that VoxAC30 just screams in a lot of the futures songs. The album undoubtedly has great tone...

I prefer thier live music however, when it comes to style. All that studio mumbo jumbo is rather uninteresting to me. I prefer a pure unadulterated guitar sound. I listened to a live recordging of some of the futures tracks months before the album was released. I really dug the raw, rythmic stylings - and then in the studio the rythm came from delays and such. I have a collection of Jimmy Eat world live tracks that I love SO much more than thier album riding counterparts.

I think thier Live show is where the band's strength really comes out. The delays are there, but without so many tracks to work with everything comes out simpler and more pure. If you dig the JEW - you seriously need to check out thier DVD - "Believe in what you want" - it'll rock your socks off!!

I wish they would have shot some DVD footage at thier last concert in fall 2004 that I went to. The sound was great. The rock was hard. The energy was flowing between the band and the audience. By far the best rock show I'd ever been to. You could feel the love through the rock.
