I just started playing with Fruity Loops and I am pretty impressed up to this point...here's the problem: in FL, all of the patterns seem to be dependent on each other. For example, I am trying to work on a song with different time signatures, and so I programmed a pattern with a certain bar length. Now I'd like to program another pattern for the song with a different bar length, but when I try to change the bar length in the "song settings" menu, the new bar length is applied to all patterns, including the one previously recorded. How can I get around this?

Yep, sucks doesn't it. I've been whining about that one for a while. You can create a song in multiple pieces...it's not fun, but it works.

Slackmaster 2000

I also encountered the same problem

I usually export each pattern to wav and paste them. Not the most userfriendly, but it seems the only soultion with other time signatures

Thanks, but I am a true newbie to FL. Could you describe how you pasted the pieces together in more detail? Also, can anyone recommend a similar program that doesn't have this limitation?

I just pasted them together in Cubase, because I do my other recordings over there. Just use 'export wave file' in FL an 'Import WAv File' in Cubase. Just look out that youre masterlist tempo in Cubase is the same as the patterns you import.

You might want to try FLP with Acid Pro 3.0.

Just my $0.02 ;)
