Used this program in the late 80's. Want to use it again. Not too bad of a learning curve but having one problem. After creating some patterns, then linking them into a song I try to save the song. After naming the song I hit save file. Then I get a message box that says "illegal characters in file name. Press any key to continue"...I am not using any illegal characters within the DOS protocol so I have come here to see if anyone can help me. Using an old version of TEXTURE 2.5
I think this is user error on my part. I can't keep saving all my songs as "UNTITLED"
 
If I remember correctly, DOS has an 8.3 limit. Not sure when it changed (Win95 maybe). Try that and see if it fixes the error.

Even if it is on a modern DOS, the program is built on the old standard.
 
Thanks! I'll look at that, although the file name that I am using is, "TEST"...Happy to get such a quick response. First time using this forum.
