From 1641 to 1800

Ive had a 1641 for awhile now and have been happy with it so far. When a dear friend of mine passed away he left me his 1800 which he never used. I never bothered hooking it up until now because I figured it was the same interface with a different number ,but after firing it up this weekend I swear its a quieter unit. Usually with the 1641, because of my small room ,my pre levels are always all the way down but with the 1800 I had to turn a couple up to get the level I wanted.

Anyone else notice this difference?

It could be the fact that the power supply is external on the 1800. I can't say I remember much difference myself when I switched.

Do you have a gain control in the drivers? If you do, it could be the new drivers are set to a default level and it could be lower than your older driver settings. Just a thought. Looking at the specs, the two seem very close together.

Im going to mess with it more tonight , it was a fresh install of reaper so maybe the drivers are set lower, which is fine by me!!
